Hi,
I'm having trouble installing MH2.1.
I'm not able to get feeds shown in center block.
I've tried everything.....
Is there a feed which works definitely to try on my site ?
phpnuke 7.6-3.2d with Nuke Sentinel 2.6.01
greetings,
Eric

Perhaps you would like to give us more details on the matter.

Have you followed thoroughly the install.txt notes?
Have you created the tables?
Have you copied that particular code in the footer[see install.txt]?
Did you go throught MH "Settings" section?
Are you able to access the MH admin panel?
The feed urls you've eventually used are valid?
Having issue only with the center block?
....etc.

Hi Aikon,
I'm very pleased that you're responding to my emergency call,
Have you followed thoroughly the install.txt notes? YES
Have you created the tables? YES
Have you copied that particular code in the footer[see install.txt]? YES
Did you go throught MH "Settings" section? YES but could there be something wrong in settings ?
Are you able to access the MH admin panel? YES
The feed urls you've eventually used are valid? i think so, but not sure, do you have a valid one for testing purpose ? i use: http://www.topix.net/rss/who/bonnie-raitt
Having issue only with the center block? no feeds in module also...
center block says: Currently there is a problem with headlines from this site
my site: http://www.soulsalike.nl
thank you,
Eric

Well...under General Settings tab play a little bit with the option where it says "Method to get the feeds".[perhaps your host has disabled one of these, maybe the exact one that is set now].

Try "fsockopen" method[and after hit Change button]. After that try to "Preview Feeds" under "Feed URL Management" tab for this feed url[if you see some feeds on that page, "Preview" page, than everything should work]...or try the "Refresh" link in that table from "Feed URL Management" tab[that go to MH section from your site and see if there has been collected any feeds]. If doesn't work try the other two options, exactly in the same way[s].
BTW the feed is activated["Feed URL Management"], right?

The feed url provided is ok and works, tested myself.

If it doesn't work I can take a look to see what exactly is wrong, if you want...but I need access to your site[ftp and phpmyadmin]...just email me these details[my email it's at the beginning of each php MH file].

Hi Aikon,

I asked my provider and the problem was known by them.
It's a security thing, and we can't use "fopen" or "curl" on their server.
They offered a work around like this for the feed url:
http://include.hosting2go.nl/include.php?url=http://url.to.the.include

It worked for me, although the datafield in MH for the feed url can be in some cases a little too small now.
There's a possibility that "allow_url_fopen=1" should be in /private/php.ini so this include will be possible. But in my case that wasn't neccessary.

Thanks for helping Aikon,
I'm really happy we got this working now, see my site http://www.soulsalike.nl
Greetings,
Eric

Good to hear Eric, that everything has been sorted out.

In phpmyadmin, open the ***_multiheadlines_urls table and increase the size of urls_url column.
[Right now is 100 characters]

I'm curious about that particular workaround though[right now I can't acces that link you gave me, it's IP and proxy restricted]. Maybe you are so kind to pm or email me or even post here the solution.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Aikon,

The solution is in fact to put
Code:
http://include.hosting2go.nl/include.php?url=
before the feed you want in your module/block.
In my case it looks like this for one of my feeds:
Code:
http://include.hosting2go.nl/include.php?url=http://www.topix.net/rss/who/bonnie-raitt

This code only works with my provider "hosting2go" ofcourse.
How this exactly works i can't tell you, sorry.

Greetings,
Eric

That is an unusual solution.
