I have droped the multiheadlines tables, reinstalled the sql. to no avail. I just can't get a sub category. As soon as I create a sub-category it immediatly shows up in the parent category list??

I saw in version 1 that there was an issue with a multiheadlines.php which is not included in the the version 2.

I am sorry if this has been posted before, I tried searching all forums, using; sub -- sub category --- sub-category --- and category.

Very cool module.

nuke 7.8 unpatched.

P.S. While I have somebody's ear that knows code Very Happy
2 more questions

I have noticed some news feeds create two titles when Multiheadlines is in the homepage and one of the titles opens the the link in _self which kicks users off my site. ARGH!!! i.e. Google News http://news.google.com/?ned=us&topic=t&output=rss 1. Why?

And when I have multiheadlines as my homepage module, some RSS feeds i.e.

http://www.gottabemobile.com/SyndicationService.asmx/GetRss and http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/xml/ cause my site to no longer fit in 800x600, when I know it works at that low resolution. I have the site set to autostretch from 785 or so to infinity. Yet Yahoo News and most others fit fine. 2. Why?

I came across these symptoms to my problem.

When I make a sub category it is catagorized (laid out) correctly in the "browse by category" area. However it is not categorized correctly in the "dropdown" on the same page.

In "ALL" the dropdowns,
"ALL" the categories and the sub-categoies are present. ???

I don't know if that helps.

Yes, this is how it works. That dropdown[from the first page on MH modules] is just a quick link access to any category or sub-category.

What issue? Maybe you could tell us what is that particular issue!

Yes this is happening when you have big pictures in the feed. I recommend to you use only 1 column [for displaying] for the category that belong to, that feed url.

Never experienced this. Sad

Maybe I wasn't clear. I'll use aikons.com as an example.

i.e. You have 2 sub categories in PHP-Nuke, when I pull down your drop down I DO NOT see your sub categories, I olny see your PARENT categories. On my site I would see this in my dropdown; (PHP-Nuke + Php-Nuke.org +Splatt Projects)
All of my subcategories show as Parent categories??
I have followed all the instructions to the letter. I also checked out your "Multiheadlines explained" Area and I still can't figure it out.
When I make a sub Category it immediatly shows up as a Parent.

DAHHH? after reviewing your site more closely I get it now. (BRAIN IS NOW WORKING)

You have multiple url's under one parent. I thought they were sub categories Embarassed
Your Browse page clearly states "There are 7 main categories, 0 sub-categories and 1330 news" Zero sub categories. Embarassed Embarassed --- Sorry --- Embarassed Embarassed No wonder you had no idea what I was talking about.
-----------------------------------------------------------

As for the double title thing with Google News.

The RSS Google link used to create the anomal is http://news.google.com/news?ned=us&topic=t&output=rss

By the way this shot is takin with IE7 but it looks the same Firefox.

If I turn off Indexing and Show Logo in the Gerneral Settings Area; the only link left is the orange one, which loads in _SELF.
Therefore.... I choose..... to not use...... google news. Sorry for the rhymes. Rolling Eyes

CLOSE UP PIC

Aikon,
No telling how long my site will last.
So if want to keep these pics in this forum, could you please edit my post and copy them to your server.

Actually will remain the feed title only, without index[no.] and without the logo.

Everything after the yellow part is in fact the content of the feed that comes from Google.

Don't know what to say about this.
Google have great feeds/news. [in my opinion]
