Adding another module to homepage alongside multiheadlines

Hi all!

Firstly I would like to say this is a great module and am enjoying using it. One thing I have been trying to figure out though, is how I can put normal news (editable through admin) on the homepage alongside the multiheadlines module. In essense, displaying two modules on the front page of my phpnuke site. This will have a great benefit for me as I can show specific news followed by the generic news fetched by the rss feeds.

If you can post the code needed or point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Hi Tecas

You cannot put on homepage two different modules at same time. This is how the php-nuke is constructed.
But you can circumvent this issue by the use of blocks[center blocks].
Either you use Multiheadlines on the frontpage and use a block which pulls out news from your database news that can be formated as you wish - there are on the net many such blocks OR you can use News module loaded on homepage and a center Multiheadlines block[via MH admin panel->Multiheadlines Block Management -> create -> center]...if you add also the block which I called it "block-Multiheadlines-categories.php" you will have also the browsing capability[of feeds categories] on you homepage.
Practicaly it's the same thing as you would have two modules on the frontpage. Wink

Bottom line: You may have 1 module+blocks loaded on your homepage at the same time, not two modules.

Thank you very much for the reply Aikon, I went with your second suggestion which was to put the news module on the homepage and create the multiheadlines centre block. The only thing I am missing now is where the rss feeds only display their header entries and not the brief summary when the block is used. Is it easy to adapt the center block to display summaries as if the module was on the front page?

In summary, I love your module! I especially like the automation where the database purges every so often based on set preferences. Keep up the good work!

As "center block" I meant a "Multiheadlines Scroll/Marquee Block" not the "Multiheadlines Center Block".
So hit the "create", create a scrolling block and on to the next screen choose on "Position"->center.
The newly created file than can be extremely easy modified not to scroll...just delete.
Code:
<div sty le="overflow:auto;height:200px">
from within and the end of that div
Code:
</div>

Play with MH a little to discover all it's featurest.
Yes "Multiheadlines Center Block" [as it's generical named] is that centered block which holds only the headlines titles, but I didn't talked about it earlier.

Thats great, thanks once again Aikon. I will get to work by using the "Multiheadlines Scroll/Marquee Block" instead.

Just one last thing, I notice that the actual frame and box header does not match the actual frame borders within a given theme. In this case I am using something I downloaded called the ABD Theme. This seems to happens when any centre block is created. Any idea which file I would need to change in order to match the frame on the standard news/side boxes?

Thanks again.

...and you are refering to "Multiheadlines Center Block" or a "Multiheadlines Scroll/Marquee Block" with a center position?
If it's about the first case read this http://www.aikons.net/ftopict-263.html
However about the header of a centered box it's defined on mainfile.php file, more exactly in function themecenterbox. There you must act.
Here on my site I did that. That's why the [centered] blocks aparently looks like sides blocks.

I was referring to the Multiheadlines Center Block as I haven't implemented the other one yet. Some really helpful pointers there Aikon, appreciate your help. Now I know where to look to change the centre block so it looks like the sides!

Thanks again.
